Tracheostomy and TPN

All 24 Apple Rehab facilities are extensively trained to care for traches, as well as provide Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN). We provide 24 hour nursing care, daily trach maintenance, and extensive respiratory services to reduce disease progression. Our objective is to maintain the stability of the resident so that they can reach the highest level of independence possible.

Tracheostomy is an opening created through the neck into the trachea. Reasons for a tracheostomy are typically for, bypassing obstructed upper airways, cleaning airways, or opening the airway to aid breathing. Following the procedure, breathing will occur through the tracheostomy tube

Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) is intravenous administration of nutrition, which may include protein, carbohydrate, fat, minerals and electrolytes, vitamins and other trace elements for patients who cannot eat or absorb enough food through tube feeding formula or by mouth to maintain good nutrition status. Achieving the right nutritional intake in a timely manner can help combat complications and be an important part of a patient’s recovery.” - American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition

Discharge Planning & Follow-up
Patients discharged from our program are often followed at home for a period of time by a preferred home health care provider, who utilizes our program and standards to reinforce healthy choices in the home environment. We believe that the continuum of care is one of the most important factors in preventing unnecessary hospital readmission. Working closely with our home care provider, Apple Rehab collects data, which tracks patient progress and helps further define our program and services
